2021: The end of a cycle and the beginning of a new one - bio-waste

29/12/2020

After another year, it's time to put the strategy for bio-waste in Portugal into practice?!

Over the past few months there have been many debates and forums where the central theme has been, of course, bio-waste.

Until December 31, 2023, bio-waste will have to be separated and recycled at source, or collected selectively. Therefore, it is 3 years that separate us from the community objective.

But will we be prepared for another challenge? So far, a lot has been said, but progress is still very few and slow.

It is therefore expected that 2021 will be a challenging year at all levels, and that one of the overarching objectives will be the definitive implementation of measures that ensure that bio-waste is valued at the level of selective collection or local treatment aiming, at the end of 2023, Portugal fulfills the objective to which it is committed.

To meet the goals established for bio-waste, it will be necessary to involve everyone: Citizens, the State, Management Entities, Municipalities, Service Providers...

May together we can enforce yet another national and European design!
